• It is positioned as a leader in Highway Management among companies with a global presence

Globalvia is for the second consecutive year world leader in Sustainability in Highway Management, according to the leading international ranking published today by the independent organisation GRESB. Globalvia is among the top international organizations in the management of transport infrastructure concessions, specializing in highways and railways and managing 25 projects in seven countries.
GRESB is an independent body created in 2009 by investors around the world to measure environmental, social and corporate governance commitment (usually referred to as ESG for its acronym in English). Since then, the GRESB Index has established itself as the main global reference for comparing corporate sustainability in the real estate and infrastructure sectors.
In the 2020 edition, made public today, Globalvia once again takes first place in Highway Management, among a group of 15 companies operating globally (diversified in several countries) as well as among 31 road transport companies. In the global ranking, Globalvia ranks fifth among 426 companies from multiple sectors and different countries.
In addition, Globalvia has surpassed the score obtained last year and remains in the select quadrant of “Five Star” companies, which recognizes those that achieve higher scores each year.
For Javier Pérez Fortea, CEO of Globalvia, “maintaining our position as a sustainable world leaders in infrastructure management is for us almost an obligation to our shareholders and above all to the 250 million people who use our infrastructures every year. We view the management and added value of our infrastructures as ever increasingly related to mobility which, in turn, requires an integrated and efficient response in terms of sustainability”.
GRESB is a sustainability index used as an evaluation and comparison tool by private and institutional investment funds to measure and assess the quality of their investments in terms of sustainability: environmental, social and good governance. This index provides standardized and validated data to the capital markets. For investors and the industry, this is a very important index to evaluate performance in terms of sustainability since it is aligned with international reporting frameworks such as GRI and PRI. This year, despite the coronavirus crisis, the number of participants in this index has increased both among companies (426 in 2020 compared to 393 in 2019) and funds (118 in 2020 compared to 107 in 2019).
Sustainability is a fundamental pillar at Globalvia and is therefore integrated into all processes in the Company’s value chain. These results demonstrate Globalvia’s commitment to lead the infrastructure management industry and to work every day to provide the best customer service and promote the highest quality standards.
