Metro de Málaga has reached last Monday July 25th 10 millions of passengers, few days before of its opening second anniversary, that was held on July 31st 2014.

Fernando Lozano, General Director of Metro de Málaga, and José Luis Ruiz, Junta de Andalucía’s Delegate, wanted to celebrate the event giving a 50€ metro card for her next subway trips to the 10-million passenger.

The figure of 10 million users has been reached a week earlier than expected, demonstrating the excellent growth of Metro de Málaga, which is outpacing business figures provided.

The concession have given service to 10.052.583 passengers until Thrusday 28 July. Regarding the average of Fridays during July(15.000 viajeros), the metro has reached a figure of 10.067.583 travellers over its two-years operation.

Metro de Málaga is growing at a rate of 4% and this semester more than 2.5 million passengers have jumped on its carriages, punctuating the metro with a 9 out of 10 in the satisfaction survey.

The Delegate of Junta de Andalucía stressed that the metro provides an “efficient, safe and environmentally friendly service of public transport to its users and to all citizens in Málaga“.

For all these reasons, 2018 projections could not be better: expand the number of lines and reach an annual estimate of 20 million passengers.
