TC1 Nuevo Necaxa – Ávila Camacho (México) has been inaugurated

The last September the 17th 2014, President of Mexico Mr Enrique Peña Nieto, inaugurated the Nuevo Necaxa to Ávila Camacho (TC1) section of the 37 km MEXICO to TUXPAN highway, starting its operation the following day, September the 18th.

The whole strecht Nuevo Necaxa – Tihuatlán has been part of Globalvia since 2007 and it consists in two sections:
– First section: 37 km highway with two carriageways separated and two lanes each way through availability to users payment system to users.
– Second section: 48 km highway wich was opened on the 26th November of 2012 using a specific toll system.

TC1 has 6 tunnels with an length of 8.047 meters and 12 bridges with an extension of 3.165 meters. With a heigth of 225 meters, the most important bridge is Ing. Gilberto Borja Navarrete over San Marcos river being the second highest viaduct in the world.

This highway has the most current and modern traffic and safety management systems and has been appointed as the first mexican intelligent highway by Communications and Transport Secretary of Mexico (SCT).

It is possible to reduce more than 3 hours from the capital to the Gulf of Mexico thanks to this last strecht of México – Tuxpan highway and Tuxpan becomes the closest port of Mexico Valley in view of the time.
