Improvement of the central Galicia motorway surface
21-05-2014

Work started on 5 May to recover the skid
resistance (CRT) of the wearing course, scheduled to take six weeks.

This action consists of laying LB2 bituminous
grout on the motorway’s right hand lanes. The 2010 and 2012 campaigns on the
central Galicia motorway showed that this is a very effective way to improve
the CRT values.

The lanes to be rehabilitated have a total
length of 82.16 km, the equivalent of almost 290,000 m2 to be treated.  (The ACEGA is 56 km long in each direction
and lane, that is, 112 km per lane.)

Ecosasfalt, SA has been contracted to apply the
grout; the concessionaire’s investment for undertaking the action will be ?565,000.

To date 30% of the planned work has been
carried out since there are two teams working simultaneously on the road to
complete it in the shortest possible time.
