Autopista del Itata (Chile) updates its toll system
13-05-2014

These are new investments made by
the Concession Company in pursuit updating the toll system at the Agua
Amarilla, Nueva Aldea and Rafael Told Plazas.

The project, which has been
gradually implemented since September 2013, contemplate the functions of
management and control of tolls, the incorporation of security systems through
CCTV, the renewal of field equipment such as traffic lights, barriers,
electromagnetic and optical sensors for the classification of vehicles,
touchscreen computers for cashiers, etc.

At the same time, the updating of
the toll system will allow increased flexibility in the configuration of the
lanes at the Agua Amarilla Toll Plaza, incorporating the possibility to
establish more lanes in the direction that has a greater demand, and as per the
needs. For instance, on long weekends and weekends during holiday season.

Additionally, the incorporation of
automatic lanes through the use of prepaid no-contact cards (similar to those
currently used in the Santiago subway). This will make it possible for the user
to directly interact at the point of collection with the automatic machine,
which notoriously improves service time, the problem with change, and for the
case of corporate users, the effective control of cash handled by their
drivers.

These changes represent an
investment by Autopista del Itata in excess of $550 million, and with regard to
the new prepaid no-contact card, in the near future, it will be
possible to purchase and charge that card at the Agua Amarilla Toll Plaza, once
the testing period  been completed.
