Globalvia signed for an initial term of 5 years which can be extended for up to 8 years. The contract involves the provision of Winter Maintenance, Incident Response, Cyclical Maintenance and CAPEX interventions on approximately 180km of Dual Carriageway and Motorway to all the radial routes emanating from the M50 motorway in Dublin, which is also operated by Globalvia through a 35-year PPP Contract. Globalvia also operates the M6 PPP toll road from Galway to Ballinasloe in the West of Ireland.
Globalvia was awarded the first generation of the MMaRC A in 2013 as part of a consortium with Sacyr (45% Globalvia, 45% Sacyr, 10% Jons Civil Engineering). For the second generation, Globalvia has tendered separately from Sacyr, with its local construction partner Jons Civil Engineering, and will take the majority control of the new company (70% Globalvia, 30% Jons Civil Engineering).
With this award, Globalvia consolidates itself as the main operator of Ireland´s busiest motorways, with segments exceeding annual average traffic volumes of 150,000 vehicles per day.
