Metro de Sevilla, railway concession managed by Globalvia, has carried 4,160,370 passengers the first trimester of this year (from January to March), 242,018 registered users more than in the same period of 2015.
Metro has gained more than 2,600 passengers in its daily average, making a total of 45,718 users per day, a better figure comparing to the same one last year: 43,059 users per day.
Even so, it should be taken into consideration that the year-on-year comparison of the first trimester of 2016 is affected by the great demand growth during the Easter special service. This holiday dates didn’t take place during March of 2015, since last year just Palm Sunday and Monday and Tuesday of Holy Week were celebrated in this month.
In spite of weather conditions of Easter first days, Metro de Sevilla carried a total of 530,660 passengers from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, in total, an average of 66,332 passengers. This is an outstanding figure compared with the average of passengers during a normal week (from Sunday to Sunday), 41,300 people, or the average of users in week days, 50,000 people.
On the other hand, 838,395 passengers have trusted Metro de Sevilla to get to the April Fair thanks to the special service organized from Saturday April 9th to Sunday April 17th.
The volume of users registered during the Fair’s week means an increase of 3.13% in relation to 2015’s figures.
The largest influx of passengers was recorded on Thursday April 14th, reaching a historical record of 150,240 users in one day since Metro’s inauguration, followed by Friday and Wednesday, with 134,971 and 133,934 respectively, around a 10% increase over the previous year. Compared to 2015, it’s also remarkable the increase of users on Sunday, with 71,247 passengers transported, representing an increase of 90.26 %, being the best Sunday Fair since 2009.
During the days before April Fair almost 100,000 passengers use Metro de Sevilla, which means a users’ increase of 14.47% on Saturday and a 0.90% in total, related to last year.
This statistics capture other historical record during that weekend which does nothing but confirm last year’s good tendency. The Fair week (from Monday to Sunday) of 2016 has become the Fair week with the biggest passengers’ demand since 2009, with 105,527 users per day.
At the 2016 Annual Satisfaction Survey of Metro de Sevilla, metro users are very satisfied with the service offered. According to the survey results, metro satisfaction rating is an 8.2 out of 10. Since 2010 the perception of Metro de Sevilla’s quality has always remained above an 8.
