Today January 22, the Minister of Public Works and Transportation of Costa Rica, Rodolfo Méndez Mata, and the Deputy General Manager of Globalvia, Carlos González Álvarez, have signed the negotiation process for the studies that will allow the extension of Ruta 27.
The event, which has been held in the Presidential House of Costa Rica, has been also attended by Carlos Alvarado, President of the Republic, André Garnier, Minister of Coordination with the Private Sector, and José Manuel Sáenz, Technical Secretary of the National Concession Council. From Globalvia, Javier Pérez Fortea, CEO of the Company, Jorge Rivas, LATAM Highways Director, and Gastón Oróstegui, Mexico & Costa Rica Country Manager of Globalvia, among other colleagues from the Concessionaire.
The President of the Republic has expressed during the act the importance of public-private partnership to face projects such as these “we believe in the figure of the concession and therefore we have strengthened this process that will allow us to provide a solution to the collapse of Ruta 27 and that will benefit the development of Costa Rica“.
The action plan, which will extend from La Sabana to Caldera, is divided into three sectors: beginning with the works in sector I between La Sabana and Siquiares, then approaching sector II, which includes two sections; one between the Siquiares and Atenas interchanges and the other between Orotina and Caldera; and ending with sector III, where works will tackle the extension to two lanes in each direction between the Atenas and Orotina interchanges.
The chronogram that will follow the project will begin this year 2020 with technical and financial studies and the rest of bureaucratic documents to be able to begin the works in the first semester of 2021.
Congratulations Ruta 27 team!
